Two kinds of help: a quick reference card below, written by us for this page, and the original game's own manual, the RuleBook, and its data card, linked at the bottom. Puzzled by something the game did? Try the FAQ.
While you're playing
The game has its own built-in help, wherever you are: press F1. That is the original game's own reference, not ours.
Reference card

| W | Who's online - everyone in the realm, and who else is in the Hall. |

| T | The Wayward Blade Tavern - live chat with everyone in the Hall. |
| B | The General Board - the public noticeboard, one post per page. |
| G | Guilds - found one, join one, its roster and its own board. |
| H | Hall of Fame - your deeds, realm firsts, tales, guild standings and more. |

| F1 | Help, for wherever you are. |
Your account
- P then C – change your password: type the old one, then the new one twice. ESC cancels. If you saved your password in NWNSETUP, change it there too, or the next sign-in will start with the old one.
- NWN /V at the DOS prompt shows which version of NWN.COM you have. It is also on the first help page (F1, then 1) and in the title of NWNSETUP. Tell us the version if you write to us about a problem.
Lord Nasher and your deeds
- Visit Lord Nasher in his palace in Neverwinter: he tells you what the realm needs done. Bring him the proofs of your quests for his rewards.
- H then 1 in the Hall – Your deeds: each adventurer's rank, the places mastered and the places under way (Wharves 3/5: three of the five great deeds there done). To master a place, win every one of its great fights and see its story through; Nasher hears of it.
- H then 4 – First to master: who mastered each place first.
- The realm's quest: the quest Nasher gives everyone moves on when the realm has done enough together – every battle won in that place counts, by anyone (for a story quest: enough heroes who see it through). The herald tells everyone in the game when a place is done, and Nasher asks for aid somewhere new. Your deeds (H, 1) shows how far the realm has come.
- Lord Nasher's bounty: each week, Monday to Sunday, one place carries a bounty. Whoever wins the most battles there by Sunday night takes it (at least three). Your deeds shows the place and who leads; the herald names the winner, and the Hall of Fame's This season page keeps the bounties won. The Realm page shows it too.
- Ranks, mastery, the realm's quest, the bounty and Nasher's later leads are the revival's additions (see the Technical page).
The Wayward Blade Tavern
- Just type to speak - everyone in the Tavern hears you.
- /W - who else is in the Tavern.
- /ME does something - an action line, instead of speech.
- ESC leaves the Tavern.
Guild chat
A guild's own chat room follows its members out into the game, so adventuring doesn't mean missing out.
- In the guild's own chat room, in the Hall, everything you type goes to the guild - no command needed.
- !g text – from the Tavern, or from inside the game, says it to your guild only.
- !guild off / !guild on – stop or start hearing your guild while you're adventuring.
- !guild who – who's in your guild right now.
Playing
- F1 - the game's own help for whatever screen you're on.
- Arrow keys move your character and highlight menu choices; Enter chooses, or speaks.
- To talk to other players nearby, just type. F5/F6 choose who you're speaking to, F9/F10 change your chat colour.
- F2 – who is nearby, in the same place as you. Shift-F2 – everyone in the realm and where they are, and how many are in the Hall.
- F3/F4 move the chat window up and down 12 lines at a time (with Shift, one line), to read back through what was said.
- Tab toggles whether you accept gold and items offered by other players – off by default. To trade with someone, you need to be following them as a party.
Official IRC channel
Come and talk to other players in #NWN-Revival on the Libera.Chat IRC network.
- With a web browser: web.libera.chat/#NWN-Revival – pick a nickname and you are in. Nothing to install.
- With an IRC program: server irc.libera.chat, port 6697 (use TLS/SSL), channel #NWN-Revival.
NasherBot keeps the channel company and answers questions. Type these in the channel, or send them to it in a private message (without the !):
- !realm – is the realm open, and how many are in it
- !who – who is out adventuring right now
- !news – the latest News of the Realm (!news list, !news full to have the whole issue sent to you)
- !fame – the top of the Hall of Fame
- !guilds – the guilds of the realm
- !play – how to join
The channel is run on Libera.Chat, so its own rules and privacy policy apply there, not ours. It is also a good place to ask questions and find a party.
The RuleBook
The original game's own manual: rules, character creation, spells, combat, and the Forgotten Realms. We did not write it, and we do not host a copy ourselves – it is preserved at MOCAGH, a museum of classic computer game documentation.
Download the RuleBook (PDF, about 3.6 MB).
The Adventurer's Journal
The official area-by-area guide to the Realms, with Lord Nasher's briefings. Also scanned and preserved at MOCAGH, not hosted by us.
Download the Adventurer's Journal (PDF, about 10.3 MB).
The Data Card
The original IBM data card that came in the box: setting up graphics and sound, the movement keys, chat, and what every function key does (F1 to F8). Also scanned and preserved at MOCAGH, not hosted by us.
Download the Data Card (PDF, about 0.7 MB).
